I'm a bit shocked at how many people are even willing to purchase hops from China. Putting aside the idea concerning supporting your own countries ecomony and purchasing locally produced products, my biggest concern would be what China has sprayed on the hops as they grew them. China has been...
Haha Its funny this popped up today/tonight. As an American who dabbled in brewing in the states I used glass carboys pretty much exclusively. Always tended to be annoneyed with the lack of taps and the glass state (I did break one but by Gods blessing didnt cut the crap out of myself in the...
I've found an inexpensive option for precise temp control is a cheap 15-20 watt aquarium heater available at pretty much any pet shop. I picked mine up for about 15 bucks and have used it two different ways. The first way was directly in the actual fermenter which I think is the best option as...
Just an update, bottled it up on the 25th and i know its early but just tried it tonight and its hands down the best beer I've ever made. I have no doubt spending the extra money for the actual trappist yeast was worth it. Its darn close to the dubbel i bloody pay 80 bucks a carton for even at...

Also from what i remember Hawaii had a pretty crap beer selection when compared to say Washington, Oregon or Cali, but maybe its...
Actually I love belgians and was trying to give a belgians taste to the dark ale which is why I chose that one. My whole reason for home brewing is so I can drink belgian type beer without having to spend the 70 bucks a carton that I've been spending for La Trappe Dubbel. :)
So just started getting into homebrewing and my first batch has been bottled for almost 2 weeks now and I'm looking for a little advice to improve on it. I did a Morgans Dark ale with 1 can of Coopers Light liquid malt extract, and safeale t58 fermented at about 72F for a week and then bottled...
