    Warm Weather Brewing Temps

I've got the same issue except I can't pressure ferment. I've had good results though with Voss Kveik yeast, it actually likes 33-35deg

    Troublesome Ball lock fittings

Hi I tried a O ring supplier here in Christchurch and they couldn't supply a silicone O ring that size. Where did you get yours from? Thanks

    KegLand Questions and Answers

NPT and BSP are essentially the same size the difference is the thread pitch and form. 1/2 BSP and 1/2 NPT are the same thread pitch but the thread form is slightly different, they are interchangeable however. Another example of the USA out of step with the rest of the world.

Heat pump water heater rebates for Victorians

I've got one and it's only rated at 750w, we don't ever have trouble with it running out of hot water. It's a Stiebel Eltron, German so good quality. I'm in NZ so had to pay full price for it as part of a new build. Our daughter is in Melbourne and recently had to replace her cylinder and was...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

Sorry just to be clear the cable that was operating the 3kw element was 2.5mm and it was just getting warm, not enough to cause any concern but never the less warm. The 1.5mm cable is one I purchased premade for my motor home, the chance for it to ever draw 16A is so remote I'm not bothered...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

Yes you learn something every day, I googled after the last post and found that same image and that they are distributed in the NZ market as well. Never ever seen any of the 20, 25 or 32 amp ones and only the odd 15 amp. Our caravans and motorhomes all use the 16 amp connections with the round...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

Ok that's interesting thanks for that. Must admit I've never seen a 20A outlet but then again have never looked for one. Interestingly while we share the same electrical code some things are different. We do use the 15A ones but they are not common more likely the 16A European type same as 32A...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

You are correct but as far as I know here in NZ the next step from a 16 amp outlet is a 32 amp one. Doesn't matter if you are only drawing 20 amps if it's a 32 amp outlet the wiring has to capable of handling that current. I could quite possibly be wrong so can you please explain how you get 20A...

Converting from gas to electric kettle

I've done a couple of brews now and the 3kw boils 50l in a reasonable time but it definitely needs something to throttle it back as it really gets a good boil going. I was recently in Melbourne and purchased one of Keglands 3.5kw element. It is definitely a lower watt density than the one I have...

    Rare Aussie Beer

That's definitely the English Courage rooster on that bottle. remember it well from drinking it in the 70's on my OE in London. Was pretty bad as was all the beer in those days. I still remember turning up in Sydney from NZ and getting a beer in the pub that was so cold we had to leave it on the...

    Intro and Gear show-off

Sorry didn't mean to criticise, was just a thought. Your system looks great and you seem to have it all under control, I only wish I could figure out that arduino like that.

Stainless is not a very good heatsink, I would have used a nice thick piece of aluminium.

    Milling Grain

Just a passing comment. Gladfields recommend a gap of 1.45mm. Mines a two roller both rollers driven and seems to work for me. .9 was too fine. Sorry didn't realise this thread was so old!

    RecipeDB - DrSmurto's Golden Ale

Wow this was one long thread but managed to browse through most of it. I thought I would give it a go as my second AG brew. the first was a bit of f#@k up so hopefully this one will be better. I want to substitute the malts for Gladfields as for one they are more available here and for two are...
