An alternate method for sanitising those 500ml Schott bottles, use an old 1.7kg malt extract tin! They fit perfectly and you'll perhaps use a bit less gas/ electricity as its a much smaller volume you're heating. I've filled this one with water though, it'll float otherwise. The 1000ml ones might fit in a milo tin, that's the next experiment!Obviously Schott bottles have many uses, from preparing rehydration and starter solutions to harvesting yeastcake and mucking around with mini- wort and cultures. An alternative to Erlenmeyer flasks that comes with a lid.
