This more like a Malty Alt x Helles. Very nice malty backbone.

The main reason for this was to make a very cheap lager. It is uber cheap - the hops are from Craftbrewer - a German Hop called Smaragd at 8% alpha acids. Very low Cohumulone levels, mean that the bitterness supports the malt, but never overpowers it.

This is the first time I've used this hop (I made another recipe concurrently, it'll appear on here one day). It has the noble spiciness you get from Czech Saaz, but then some slightly muted fruitiness that comes in a little over the top. It's one of those hops that does enough on its own to make the beer complex enough.

This is my first kegged beer as well, 100kpa, served at 6 degrees, very nice indeed.
