Does anyone know what the grain is that was in the orange show bags from the ANHC this year?

As I mentioned in another post, although it's only partially germinated this classes it as a true malt so it doesn't break the Reinheitsgebot in Germany. Pity they don't do a choc chit as well.

it's the German equivelent to flaked barley, it has been just modified enough to be classified malted barley for purity law purposes, I guess it would be best used in stouts, porters, brown ales as I expect it would give a certain amount of haze from the complex sugars / starches. I expect it would be slightly less haze producing than flaked barley.
Nothing to stop it bieng used in paler beers might be useful in a belgian tripel for head retention to counter the high alcohol & thinner body.

Any one used their allotment yet?

How did it go?

I've got 620g and am chucking it in a pale beer

Mashing in Nelson Sauvin lager in 1o mins......need to crack malt....

I love BDO's (Brewing Days Off!)

I'm about to unleash this pungent passionfruity beer on my unsuspecting neighbours.

Geez that looks good Dave. And how tall are your hops, mine have only just started to grow after sitting at the same height for months.

Cheers Brad

Does indeed look good!

Spent the day doing a lazy double that due to "nosy neighbor syndrome" took almost twice as long to brew as usual (2hr mash anyone?, only lost 3C...).

And here's how it was served up!

Got a few screwed up faces when the XXXX Gold drinkers got the passionfruit kick in the nuts from the NS Hops.

My neighbour wants to keep it permanently mounted cos he reckons the postman would never fail to deliver.

Hope everyone had a good night.

Cheers,

PB
