Hey

I was told my my LHBS that the 23l Glass Carboys are no longer in production because a man who broke his and subsequently cut himself on the glass and tried to sue the company, and hence they don't make them anymore.

He told me that I would have to go a glass demijohn.

The demijohns don't look as thick as the old glass carboys.

I want to go glass as I want to move away from plastic.

Whats everyone's opinion on using 23l glass demijohns as a fermenter for beer.

I'm from Tassie so the Carboys on the mainland are expensive to post and my LHBS have plenty demijohns.

Thanks

Perfect for fermentation. Designed for it. Particularly well suited for extended ageing where the permeability of plastics becomes an issue.
Don't try and bounce it obviously.

What about champagne bottles

  • Primat or Goliath: 27.0 L Used for Champagne bottle sizes
  • Melchizedek: 30.0 L Champagne bottle size for very large celebrations!
