I've put down my own bastardised version of an IPA and for something different have used S04 yeast.

After hydrating and pitching 2 days ago I noticed bugger all krausen- just a very thin patchy layer of bubbles on the wort.

I was thinking of chucking in another pack but thought I should consult my hydrometer and bugger me it has dropped 20 points so I know it is working quite well.

Is this common with this yeast?

I have found it goes off quick and then drops out like lead. Also sensitive to higher mash temps and higher levels of alcohol.
So sounds right to me. Much discussed in other topics, have a search if you need more.

Do you know what sort of temperature you fermented at?
I agree with KK in that it drops well. You'll probably find it's like clay on the bottom of the FV.

Have found it as above, starts well, flocs well, but also a bit lazy and drops a few out a few points early, I've had to rouse it a bit to get it to finish off.
