Hi All,

Im going to use up the remainder of my kits and bits before I take the plunge into partial mashing and all grain. I have 80grms of Citra two tins of coopers LME and half a kilo of imperial malt (i think it is similar to light crystal)

So i was thinking using

30grms of Citra at 60
25grms of Citra at 15
25grms of Citra at 0

Would this give me me a enough bitterness. Has anyone any exprience with using Citra as a bittering hop?

Thanks

Gut feel is it'll be fairly bitter. Download brewmate and plug in your values and you shall know for sure.

IBU 52.... Thats pretty bitter right?
That is currently more a Zen koan than an answerable question until you know your OG…also you are talking about using 500gms of a malt similar to light crystal…that will affect how 'bitter' 50 IBU is...52 IBU might well be nothing more than a firm background bitterness. My APAs generally don't go under 50 IBU as a starting point, a few crystal and other spec malts and 50 IBU fades into the background.
