After following this forum, and the thread at OCAU, I was inspired to put done a brew yesterday, my first in about 6 months.

Coopers real ale can
1.5kg can Morgans pale malt
a couple of handfuls of Target hop flowers
1/2 teaspoon calcium sulphate
1 teaspoon yeast nutrient
1 packet coopers yeast
1 packet mystery yeast, marked ale 255

boiled the malt for about 5 minutes,
made a tea with the hops, and about 1/2 a litre of boiling water
added it all to the fermenter, toped up with water, added rehydrated yeast.
O.G. 1048

It was going off like a frog in a sock last night when I went to bed.

I think I'll try and bulk prime thisbrew, as I've not done it before, and from reading here, it sounds a lot easier.

I'll let you know how it goes.

:chug:

racked into the secondary fermenter on friday night,
s.g. down to 1018, still bubbling on, very slowly.
I'll probably leave it till next weekend, then bottle.

Bottled it last night

s.g. 1015, seems a bit high, but has been stable at that for a few days.

sampled it while bottling, I think I overdid the hops

it tastes ok, but has fairly strong lingering bitterness.
hope it will mellow out a bit

cheers
Moray
