I am going to do a brew tomorrow and i have a jar of some white labs 051 slurry used 4 weeks ago thats been in the fridge. it smells good. How do i tell if it is still good to go without doing a starter. Also is their a way to see if it is not infected?

Smell it. If it smells fine and the container was properly sanitsed you should be fine.
I recently used some slurry that was 2 months old. There was a good quantity of it. It took just over 24 hours to get started in the brew but all went fine.

Beers,
Doc
