Oz brewer
Just to help out the cheapest way to post 100 was a 3kg express post bag about $9. I sent some test parcels first and it was about the same for normal postage which took longer. One thing with express post post is that if you are going CBD to CBD they dont guarantee next day delivery.

The easiest way to count the tubes is a good set of scales, I counted the caps by hand as my scales only went in 2g increments :(

You will have heaps of room in a 3kg bag for them and 100 tubes weighs about 1kg.

I will take 100.

If we get these sorted in time for the great QLD yeast swap will these be an acceptable vessel?

Sorry but i must of missed the previous post re techno plas culture tubes. I am only just starting with the yeast culturing so am not sure of all the gadgets involved. Could you please give a quick description and a pic if possible and how you use the tubes.

Cheers

BS

they can be used for 3 things really:
1. Yeast slant
2. Yeast storage under water (for long term)
3. Sterile water (for cooling inoculating loop, yeast samples etc)

I'll put a pic up later if I get around to it

The 1st photo is one of my Wyeast1762 slant, the 2nd photo is of slants that are ready to be innoculated and some with sterile water.

That wyeast1762 looks great Hoops, plenty of colonies there.
When you say sterile water, is that just boiled water,? How do you prep it.

Andrew, wander over to the Cratbrewer site and check out Graham Sanders' article on sterile water storage.

Print it out, read it and reread it. There is lots of info in it.
