Yeast Autolysis

I pitched my yeast to a wort that was too hot again the other day and my beer stinks of rubber.

Can I get rid of this smell/taste by CC'ing for a few weeks?

Can I reuse the yeast without worrying about contamination? I haven't had a problem with contamination before.

Do you have a thermometer?

Make notes and try hard not to pitch at too high temperatures.

In answer to your questions.
1. if the beer stinks of rubber, then you have unhealthy yeast. This can be caused by too high fermentation temperature and sometimes comes with a sulphury aroma according to Dave Miller's book. It is also a sign of autolysis

2. You can try, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope. You need to rack it off the yeast ASAP and cool if you haven't already done that.

3. Nope, once a yeast has been stressed or gives off flavours, chuck it out.

Some yeast strains are more prone to giving these aromas, especially if you ferment lagers at ale temps. What yeast did you use?
