Making a Krystalweizen today and made my starter last night. After 12 hours there appears to be alot of large yeast particles whirling around. Im used to seeing a consistent creamy wort and this appears different.
When i opened the packet to transfer to the starter the yeast wasnt that creamy consistent liquid, it already appeared chunky. I had smacked the pack before the tranfer to the starter as per normal and all usual sanitation practices followed. It had been stored in the fridge for a couple of weeks at 4c and is dated 20th Nov 2013.
Has anyone seen this before with this yeast? Im thinking as is a high floculant yeast that the particles are larger....
here a photo - i will try to upload the vidoe to youtube
