Anyone got an old wrecked cornie and sell me the dip tube ?

I'm looking to ferment some of this year's comp brews in cornies. I want to cut a dip tube off a tad shorter to use for transfer of beer off the yeast cake.

Will pay for postage as well, of course.

I do have a spare one, but unfortunately I already have plans for the cornie and said dip tube, more alcohol production efforts...

I think they are only about $7-$8 from keg king down here so worst case (if no body has one for you) I could pick one up for you.

Will be going there on Saturday morning anyway.

Thanks mate, Keg King sounds brilliant. Another retailer charges about thirty bucks for them.
If you can grab two and we can pm about payment and postage arrangements.

:super:

Got one the other week from Capalaba Bribie. It was $9 or $10 IIRC so if you're doing an order?????

Cut mine in halves to make up 2 x thermowells to house TempMate probes in fermenting wort.

Looks like I'm too late? :p

Just to make sure we are on the same page here, I am looking for a Beer Post pickup tube, the long one, not the short Gas Post tube. edit; I note the gas dip tube is indeed about $9

CB have them for around $30 but out of stock. Was that the one you got off Ross, Pete?

I can't find a price on the Keg King site but the American sites list them at around USD 16 which sounds right.

edit: if I have to pay about half the price of a keg just for a pickup tube then I won't worry, I'll just cut off an existing one to make it shorter and sit above the yeast cake, then if I need to use it for serving again I'll just pop on a couple of inches of PVC tube.

Tahoose to the rescue, sorted.

Thanks

:beerbang:

I have the "beer out" dip tube that goes to the bottom of the corny.
I asked how much when I was there last & was told the price above, I got one!
Your idea might be the way to go Bribie as I can't find them on the website.

Maybe I got lucky?
I would have a hard time making two fermenter thermowells out of a "gas in" dip tube.

Edit --- I type too slow.

bribie they are $10 for second hand ones

Thanks Ross I was obvioulsy going on the price of the mint condition new ones. And I was at Christine Ct a couple of weeks ago aarrrgghhhhhh :D :D

I've just bent my dip tube up in my fermenting keg, hoping if i need it to dispense again I can bend it back

Just had a thought, lets say you cut a few cms off the bottom of you dip tube, you could possibly prime your keg and naturally carbonate, keg hop (free floating, no hop bag) and even gelatine if you want and just throw it into you keg dispensing setup (keezer/kegorator) for a few day then serve from there.

You might loose 1-2 litres to yeast trub, hops ect. But if you already naturally carb your kegs I cant see it being any different to pouring out that first bit until you get a nice clear pour. Any as soon as you hook up to your taps your first pour could be as clear as a normal carbonated keg.

Thoughts anybody?
