Hey fellas, I was wondering if anyone on here has a totally stuffed Cornelius (or similar) keg lying around?

Im talking dead as can be, completely unrepairable and no longer of any conceivable use as a beer container.

Name your priceI wunna tinker a bit

To be completely dead, it would need to be run over by a semi trailer.

These things are stainless steel. Orings, seals, poppet valves and safety relief valves are readily available. You can even get posts for them. C&C sell replacement lids.

There are some failures where the handles are spot welded on, but this should be able to be rewelded.

If it has been bleached, it may have pinholes. Otherwise I think nobody would have a dead keg.

Check your local scrap yard, you may come across an old pepsi keg with pinlock disconnects.

Yeah, I understand it is highly unlikelybut hey, I figured I may as well ask :D

One with holes would be great if anyone has one, as I don't need it to hold liquid.

Any ideas on how I could fix the pin-hole

Try an engineering shop, it won't be too hard to fix a pin hole.

Hi Darren,

A spot of silver solder would be OK,
Not too much heat and give the whole thing a good rinse to remove all traces of flux.

Cheers

Thanks GMK, hope you find him :D

Best of luck fixing yours Darren, but if you can get near somebody with a TIG I'd suggest that over silver solder (which I reckon would work, just wouldn't last as long) :)

OK Mr Fingerlickin_B,
Some have contributed to your enquiry, so now lets hear your ideas.
We all wait with "beer" breath.
Cheers

I plan on fabricating a stainless steel version of the "Beer Machine" :D

Turns out the keg I'm getting from ozbrewer may indeed be sound, if it is the plan would now be to slice it open and create a new rounded-edge triangular keg with gas fitting and tap on the "front end" and utilising a 90deg syphon tube.

Reasoning behind the triangular shape being that not only will it sit still without the need for legs, but it will also result in a considerably thinner sediment layer due to the enlarged area of the flat base.

I hope this makes sense to anyone reading it...I often have trouble expressing my ideas in text alone...

AH Ha!!

So this new venture is a fermentation vessel, then, or am I wrong???????
Sounds interesting!!!!
Keep us all posted!!!!

Cheers

Yep, fermentation and dispensing all in one unit :)

The aim is for cheap, fast, easy (although rather crappy) beer on tap within a week...need to keep those alcos at bay!
