Be keen to see what everyone thinks.

I'm a big fan of coopers BES. Ace of spades by Brew Boys is pretty good too.

Ace of spades is :icon_drool2:

I love Ace of Spades, we named one of our dogs after it. Choc hops from Mildura is spectacular although it's pretty hard to find.

I'm a fan of those. The 4 pines stout is also a contender. Cooper's Dark is still my fave quaffer. White Rabbit Dark is good, if overpriced.

Tanga, Coopers dark is more along the lines of an aussie dark ale whilst white rabbit is closer to an american brown than anything else IMHO.

In saying that, coopers BES is my go to stout, whilst not having tried too many oz made porters, i did absolutely love the Schwartz brewery porter i had on tap at Harts pub a couple of months ago! Awesome!

Cheers

Like oldschool porn, I reckon you cant beat the classics.

Another vote for Holgate's Temptress.
I have only had the Temptress once at the taphouse. Can you get it in Brissy.

Like the Sheaf too, had a bottle on Hols in Northern NSW at the beach with a dozen oysters.

Mmmmmmmmmmm.

I actually like Mad Brewers Stout Noir. Understand some don't.

And yeah Coopers Extra Stout is really good and found in many places.

If you can't find it in a bottlo, grind up some charcoal from a fire, and mix with an old ashtray, and a schooner of old. Same flavour !!!!. I don't mind it actually, though it is a full on experience flavour wise.

Hunter Valley Brewery (Potters) didnt win an AIB trophy for their Chocolate Porter without good reason, I think its one of the best Porters Ive ever had.
Stout; you have to go a long way to beat Murrays Wild Thing, cracked a bottle of the first issue a couple of weeks back velvet smooth, intense everything a stout should be.
Its nice living in the hunter and having brewers like Keith and Shawn as locals, there are some cracking good beers coming out of this part of Oz.

Stouts - Murrays Wld Thing, Wig&Pens RIS, Southwark Old Stout. + Ace of Spades are stand outs, but there is plenty of other quality stouts kicking around.
Porter - Murrays Extra Porter, Temptress, (must try Potters)

It's a polarizer, thats for sure. Even mates who don't mind a porter an 'old' or two would rather remain sober than drink it.
Thats saying something.
...principally that they're poofs...

Welcome Back thought you would bite, just had to check if you were the same old *******, good to see that nothing has changed

I really like the James Squire Porter.

When the pub in Darling harbour was still James Squire they had happy hour including the Porter.

$5 for a pint of porter, niiiice...

yum :chug:

I noticed watching an episode of BYOB TV, this stuff gets exported to USA. They had it in a mix of US craft porters/stouts.
