LOTS of copper.

Random (Flying Spaghetti Monster)coils will be more effective than a "straight" coil.

If you want a "straight (ie. cylindrical) coil, go for one with the bulk of it's coils higher-up in the boiler (the one you linked-to will cool the bottom of the pot, but not the top so well, which is where the heat is!).

Space between the coils themselves (more surface-area exposed to hot wort).

Making one yourself is much more satisfying. Read through this: http://aussiehomebrewer.com/topic/71974-ghetto-immersion-chiller

Now I'm waiting for Ducatiboy Stu to chime in.... :)

The FSM chiller is the bomb. Much better than them silly straight coils.

Chimming completed.

I see you are in Perth. If interested I made 2 last week. Copper came in 18m lengths so I have 2 x 9 metre chillers. Was going to bung one on gumtree but if interested drop me a line. I am in north perth so not sure if that will be an issue or not.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Have messaged bundy, if that doesn't work out, I'll be making my own!

Nah, Dan. That image belongs to google. I wish I was that good lookin.

It looks like it would be pretty efficient though. If only I had a pot big enough.
