ok, it probably sounds like the dumbest question you've ever heard....
my brother in-law just returned from the US, and my wife organised for him to get me a St Pats Convoluted Counterflow Wort Chiller. (because she had heard me talk about it for months).
Problem is now i have this wonderful copper device, i don't know how to use it. it came without any instructions, and i emailed St Pats with my questions, but recieved no reply. You guys are my last hope... (other than some common sense).
I saw something big d posted with a setup involving a pump and a gauge of some description... and my obvious questions were:
what volume can i pump through this unit (optimal flow rate)?
what kind of pressure should i aim for?
Should i monitor the pressure?
Do i pump hot from the top and cold (counter flow) from the bottom?
How do i clean the sucker, and what with?
Methods of recirculation to avoid contamination?
What kind of pump do i use? (i don't want to contaminate my wort)
Does anyone have any ideas on setting up one of these things?
I can't help but think a regular immersion chiller would have been much easier.
