I have friends coming over for dinner and am cooking my dads Sri Lankan beef curry.

Just wondering what beer I should serve? I was thinking of a nice hoppy IPA perhaps?

What do you guys think??

I totally agree with the idea of a hoppy IPA, or even an IPA that is hoppy but has a fair whack of malt as well. APAs go well too IMO. Bitters of course are traditional. :)

I laughed, Cube.

Of course you did. Seems there is two in every village

Thanks Stuster. Might check out those styles at the bottlo. The Vale IPA I've been drinking lately matches a malty IPA.
I didn't know that a bitter was traditional.

I reckon a good thirst quenching lager goes well with curry. I like Singha Thai lager goes well with spicy food. European lagers are too bland to match a fiery curry. Sri Lanken curry is usually hot with some coconut milk.

Ah, I might be a newbie, but I'm a Brit so I've had my fair share of curries!

I like something fairly flat, no idea what the scientific term for it would be!

My personal favourite to have with a curry is a Kingfisher. If I can't get a Kingfisher I will go for a Tiger. :) Both are great!
