Hey Lads,

I've got a 4" thermowell that i'm wanting to shove my STC-1000 probe into, does anyone know of a suitable thermal paste/grease that will stay solid at 100*.
I've tested with some Zinc Oxide (nappy rash ointment) and while it did a good job, at 55* it was starting to become liquid and started dripping out the end of the thermowell.

Cheers Dubz

Yea just tryed some heatsink compound from Jaycar, pretty much the same, quite soft/liquid.

I've grabed some of the silicone stuff might be a bit better

I think part of the paste's properties is to be semi-liquid at heat to ensure the compound fills crevices in both surfaces to optimise the heat transfer. You shouldn't need to FILL the thermowell though, more a nice big blob on your temp probe and shove her in (TWSS).

Yea i had just planned to fill the end if the thermowell with enough compound that it would surround the probe when i pushed it in.
