Suggestions for good sours?

Hey beer dudes,

This weekend i wanna do some 'research' on sour beers....
Im a total noob when it comes to these types of beers so i thought id just start out with commercially available varieties (ie. Stuff they sell at dan murphy's)

Can anyone shoot me some worthwile names/brands/brews ?

Carwyn will definitely be able to sort you out. They're doing a special sour event tonight actually with some blends of home brewed sours made by one of the staff & Brendanos (AHB username) from 3 Ravens. Might a good opportunity to chew their ears off.

Just don't ask them for a Russian Imperial Stout , the confusion just ain't worth the pain. :blink:

According to DM's webs did you can order Timmermans but doubt anywhere would stock it

You should be able to get Lindemans, Timmermans, Tilquin, Boon, Oud Beersel, 3 fountain, or maybe even Cantillion from good specialist bottle shops.

Then it's a case of trying the Gueuze, Oud Gueze, Kreik, Oud Kreik and Frambiose if they have any.

Rodenbach grand cru was my first sour I ever tried (except one unintended sour homebrew) still one of my favourites affordable and reasonably accessible.

Petrus Oud Bruin is great. I also love 8wired's Hippy Berliner Weisse. Also, if you can find any of the Chevalier range from Bridge Road, their beers are a less "extreme" introduction to sours.

Rodenbach grand cru was my first sour I ever tried (except one unintended sour homebrew) still one of my favourites affordable and reasonably accessible.

I actually prefer the regular Rodenbach in the cans to the Grand Cru, the Grand Cru had too much acetic acid for my liking.

Dan's has stated to stock the Sierra Nevada Gose. Not a bad price for a six pack of sour beer.

I noticed that. The website even says my local two have some in stock... Can't find them though and no one seemed able to work out where they were. Always great service at Uncle Dans.

They were in the craft beer, lager section at my Dan's.

the current gabs pack has 2 sours in it.
my dans doesn't have sours, russian imperials or beer de guards. but does have a really knowledgeable staff member

Okay went in again tonight to check if they had sculpin. Someone bought a case and a half of grapefruit last night only had a six pack left! Got regular sculpin and they had a sixer of the Gose tonight as well out back. Better times today.

Few months ago i had an Amazing beer from hopdog in nowra,
Cherry Bombah! So good i kept a bottle, then i promptly broke it.
