I found a 12 volt power supply at home just out of curiosity i put a multimeter on it to see what voltage was coming out of it. well surprise, it was reading 16.6v perfect right in the middle of the range that we where told to run the stir plates at, so that will do me.
than i found a 15 volt power supply at work, put the multimeter on it, well reading high again 20.2v so it looks like 12v power supplies are the go.

thats what i was thinking after woulds that a load on them might make a differance.

Hey guys,

On the power supply issue. The supplies I use here are rated at 12VDC but put out a good 18.8VDC. I tune the circuit board to output 12.6 VDC and it spins a proper vortex without throwing the bar. So something rated 12VDC is probably perfect, especially if you stay away from a regulated power supply. I only spec 14-18 since I'm giving it 12.6 but if you have a 12VDC supply, try it.

I recommend trying whatever you have around the house first. I had a customer here plug a 24VDC power supply in and complain the output was exactly the same. Not sure what he was trying to do exactly but he was mad my voltage regulator was regulating the voltage.... :huh:
