I've just dropped my glass thermometer, and just wondering if the plastic probe on the STC-1000 will stand up to temps of up to 78 degrees. Also it will be a hell of a lot easier as I won't have to hold the thing while stirring.

I realise there are plenty of other options, but as I already have this, could it be used? Anyone done it?

I use mine in a herms system. handles the temp no worries. Where are you putting it in the mash?

This question is really deja vu since it gets asked nearly every week.

Probe is ok at mash / mash out temperatures, but remove it before the boil.

Here is last weeks effort

Sorry, I didn't bother searching this time, in a bit of a panic. About to mash in while my little man's in bed taking a nap, and no one else home. Didn't want to wake him up to go to the shop to buy another thermometer.
