I've just dropped my glass thermometer, and just wondering if the plastic probe on the STC-1000 will stand up to temps of up to 78 degrees. Also it will be a hell of a lot easier as I won't have to hold the thing while stirring.

I realise there are plenty of other options, but as I already have this, could it be used? Anyone done it?

I use mine in a herms system. handles the temp no worries. Where are you putting it in the mash?

In the pot? ;)

No, seriously, I brew BIAB so will be in my stock pot from dough in to mash out.

Sorry, I didn't bother searching this time, in a bit of a panic. About to mash in while my little man's in bed taking a nap, and no one else home. Didn't want to wake him up to go to the shop to buy another thermometer.
