Greetings all,

I have aquired a stainless steel boiler that needs some modification. Am i best to go to a sheet metal worker ? As I believe stainless is difficult to work with.

all depends on what you want to do with it hobbit.
the sheety will have most tools of the trade to roll press form cut etc.
also depends on your tools at hand and how adventurous you are i guess.

cheers

I had some SS work done by sheetys, best I've seen yet. (Comparing to work I've had done & seen in HB stores)
The best way to weld SS is to TIG weld as it has a very localised heat so it doesn't buckle the work. This is more important the thinner the material is.
As BigD said sheetys can roll, cut bend etc but you may need to find someone that specialises in SS. Maybe speak to your local HBS - thay may have someone they get stuff done through?

Hobbit ,

If you are in Sydney, take it over to ESB at Peakhurst and knock on the door of the guy next door to Mel. He actually makes most of the s/steel gear for the ESB.

Thanks for the info guys - very helpful.

I am in Sydney so Peakhurst sounds like the go.

Cheers,
