It's been a long time coming, but finally a 25L stainless fermenter from the stable of Mangrove Jack's Craft Series.

Link http://nationalhomebrew.com.au/multi-purpose-parts-and-accessories/fermenters-parts-and-accessories/mangrove-jacks-stainless-steel-fermenter-25l

These fermenters have a seamless base, tap system that is compatible with bottling attachments like the blue bottlers etc. They have spring loaded clips to secure the lid which is vented with a 22mm hole (17mm bored bung fits nicely for an airlock if so inclined).

10cm of clearance for Krausen from the 23L mark and 7.5cm clearance from the 25L Mark.

RRP is $199.00

We'll be doing these for the introductory price of $155.00 each which should ease the pain of freight somewhat.

Have a number in stock and more available at 24 hrs notice.

Suggest for the guys shipping these around the country side that you can improve on freight value by filling the fermenter to some degree with goodies to make it even more economical. Once again, due to the cubic nature of these units for freight calculation, we'll do a manual calculation and get back to you asap with the best deal we can get for you.

Cheers,
Martin

Can we get some better pictures and external dimensions?

Looks like it could be a good product.

Tried a while ago but the AHB server was having brain farts and wouldn't load.

300mm wide x 430mm high internally. 520 high to top of the lid.

Flat Inside - Base seamlessly rolled up to the walls - not a curved, nor conical base.

not gonna lie - saw stainless and thought conical :(

We've been requesting development of a conical that we could get to market for some time. We've even sent off plans to have them made in china ourselves.

Due to the shape of the conical base, it exponentially increases the manufacturing costs to get them seamless.

Haven't given up yet..........there's still 4765 more ways to skin the same cat.

What weight? Do they have carry handles? And the biggie - how much will shipping be?

Cheers
Dave

show us a pic of the tap / side of it please
does it have a thread built in or a retaining nut on the tap etc ?

thanks

They look nice but why not 30lt?

As per OP Dave, we'll quote them individually to ease the pain as best we can.

The vessel is classed as a 30L. I know Batz, i'm disappointed with the size too. 25L plus 7.5cm clearance at the top. It all comes down to the majority of Brewers doing 23L and some logistical factors on how many can be stacked into a shipping container etc. The feedback will go full circle back to the company though.

That said, it will still suit the majority.

It looks to be the stainless boiler body that comes with a lot of the "water distilling" kits now, but with a bung and airlock
AT first glance, I can see that, but totally different construction. Custom made for Mangrove Jack's. Different base, different dimensions and seamless.

OK,

2.65kg weight - 300mm wide x 430mm high internally. 520 high to top of the lid. Freight would have to be calculated on an individual basis, suburb by suburb/ town by town unfortunately.

No Handles, however the webbing strap style accessory handles as used on the 23L Glass Demijohns fit and work well. Currently sourcing stock.

The tap is retained by a nut internally, so there's no moulded threads in the vessel wall, straight through the SS wall.

Pic of tap with bottler attachment in place
Other pic shows seamless base/wall
Comparative pic of fermenter and boiler
We'll be going back to the distributor with solid feedback, but they've invested heavily on the design to bring a better product than what was previously available in the price range.

No hard sell with these units. They're not for everyone. Putting them out there for AHB members at best price we can do.

Shipping Rockhampton to Gold Coast $10.25 full or empty

Most areas of Sydney will end up at around the $25.00 mark full or empty

Melbourne freight Around $32 full or empty

How high is the tap inlet on the inside Martin? (Piccie?) Also, does the tap fit a Standard Bottling wand?

Fit ball valve to lid, fit ball valve to top of container and turn upside down. Boom, conical.. :D

Would the system allow pressurised ferments?

It's not hard to resist this as I don't have enough money. But nice looking system and a good price level.

Yob, 40mm to bottom of the tap and the pic shows the standard bottling wand attached.

Tried several times to get a decent pic of the inside but SS vessels are a biartch to photograph.

Angus, doubt the seal and system is going to allow for pressurised ferments but:

I want to be there with a video camera to capture the first attempt

Do you have the replacement taps?
Price for those?
Is the tap thread the same size diameter as a standard fermenter style tap?

Nice...

I'm assuming there is some sort of o ring seal for the lid?

And given its an internal nut it shouldn't be too hard to replace the plastic tap with something else. Like an adjustable pickup tube... Don't suppose you know how big the hole for the tap is?

Cheers

editz; just read the post again.
Yup inside and to the bottom of the tap intake.

Dave, yes, it's a silicone one

Would imagine it's not a big job. the hole is oblong 20x18mm due to the OEM tap being flat sided along the vertical axis on the thread. Not an issue for someone who can handle a file without the sky falling in.

Thanks for the explanation re: conicals being so expensive.

Still really want to get a conical, do 60-90L ever go below $500?

A few mates that are into distilling have been looking around for stainless fermenters, might have to let them know about these

*edit

Woo, 1000th post!

Um, nup, can't even buy them for that in $US plus freight out of China.

Do you think these would hold up to 'No Chill' ? Maybe if you got a rubber bung to stuff in the top, or sold lids (without hole) seperately.

Is this better?

Sorry, sounds cynical but am asking out interest..

Not cynical at all. That one will take a 1/2"BSP Ball Valve, has a silicone lid seal and handles Cocko. Italian made (very nicely I might add), but has a number of internal ridges etc.

There's a couple kicking about being used as fermenter's but no feedback on them to date.

They'd hold up to it, but then, not any better than a 25L cube for that task.

You might have to replace a few Martin if you're claiming they'll withstand no chilling completely sealed. The pressure created from the cooling wort I reckon would collapse these in an instant.

Good point - hadn't thought of the vacuum during cooling Ross. Doing a brew over the weekend, might have to throw a sacrificial lamb to the beer gods to see what happens
