How good was that! The game had it all. A penalty, two hand balls, a spear tackle, 3 yellow cards to one player, 3 red cards, some fat guy in the crowd taking his shirt off, Harry Kewell scoring from offside (has to be the only decision ever to go Australia's way re offside), and a ring in for the goalkeeper.

On the face of it Zeljko Kalic plays for AC Milan and Schwarzer for Middlesborough. But Schwarzer actually plays for Middlesborough. Kalic is the 4th ranker goaly. Imagine being paid just in case the main guy is in a car accident, the next breaks his leg and the third has to attend a funeral.

The first goal okay good kick not much can be done. But I reckon I could have saved that goal when I used to play for the local under 6 side.

Craig Moore, what a campaigner. Pressure situation, steps up, nice and slow, commits the keeper and then slots it in.

Lucas Neil on fire.

I could go on.

I actually prefer the early morning game (starts at 5am) to the 1am start. Instead of having a few beers, we cook a breakfast instead and it lets me see the crazy hours near dawn. The fog was the heaviest I've seen in Sydney for a while.

Anway, super pumped after that win. Can't wait for Italy. Go Australia!

Also unbelievable how the Croat defender handballs before Kewell scored the equaliser and the ref missed it.

Not to mention the rugby tackle on Viduka & the Croat who got 2 yellow cards & stayed on the pitch.

Wow. Exciting stuff. Attacking play from Australia was good to see. They deserved to draw at least. One penalty given, two more definite penalties weren't which, Viduka being wrestled to the ground early on and the second handball. It balances out the offside not given when Harry scored I suppose but Australia could easily have won that. I thought Kalac was rubbish, but he has played well for Australia before. Probably just nerves in a big game. Last chance for him though, Schwarzer'll be back in the next game for sure.

Now for Italy. Not impossible considering the way the Socceroos have been playing, but Italy have been playing well too. Go Aussies! :super:

The fog was really thick. Still lingering around now!

Go Aussie's!!!

Go Guus!!! Don't forget he's got the mozz on Italy after coaching Korea's World Cup win over them!

Dissapointing to lose Brett Emerton, that really wasn't neccesary! Ah well, maybe against Italy's defensive style game it could pay to have another attacking player like Bresciano on all game in his place....

Bring on Tuesday, can't wait!!!

What an emotional roller coaster! Coming from behind twice and surely going to silence the critics of the round ball game. Good to see players staying on there feet, only hope Italy can do likewise but somewhat doubt it. Graham Poll is a goose and lost control of the match towards the end(He also hates Arsenal.) but we have qualified for the round of 16 and Guus has earnt his $800K for getting us through. Terrible error on Kalacs behalf, dunno what Guus was thinking but he's the man and if Kalac had saved the goal, I wouldn't have won $85 at the TAB(If the last goal was allowed would have won $170!). Come on you Aussies!

NOTE: Excuse disjointed post - no sleep, plodding though work, clock ticking in super slo-mo etc...

Good result. Good game. Yet another poor performance from another so-called "top referee." What is it with these guys? Even the assistants refs are missing obvious infringements and they have even less to do than the central ref.

Great to see Harry finally get on the board too after missing some relatively easy chances throughout the tournament.

Feel for Kalac but at the time wanted to string him up. What a complete dick! And he was lucky not to let his first touch go in for a goal too. What was Guus thinking? Schwartzer may not be perfect but I know who I'd rather have in there.

btw doesn't everyone hate Arsenal?

Only since Manpoo have stopped winning everything but I would have to say Chelski have overtaken the gunners in the most hated stakes....

I would love to see the stats on the number of back heel passes this world cup.

Great to see Harry finally get on the board too after missing some relatively easy chances throughout the tournament.

Just need Viduka to find the back of the net!Don't get me wrong he is playing his position very well - two defenders on him and creating opportunities for the midfield etc.

On the ball today....only just noticed your Sally Kalac image - brilliant!! I need sleep.....

I just wanted to second the kudos to Lucas Neill. Having watched all their WC matches i've got him listed as my mvp so far.

That image is hilarious SteveSA

Poor old Kalac. Can you imagine being in his boat right now. Your once in a life time opportunity and you screwed it up. It would be like you're walking down the fremantle esplanade and there is a massive bus crash. You race over to find that every single one of the Little Creatures brewers was on that bus ... and they NEED to get a brew done ... you step up to the plate ... coz you're a homebrewer. You work like a demon and pump out a great batch of beer, only to sneeze into the post boil wort and infect the whole lot...

the poor guy would be in living hell, and he wouldn't have too many friends at the mo'

Or even more embarassing you bottle the perfect batch, share it at an international brewing event (or a mini-floccs) and someone else discovers a dead roach in their glass!

In the ghetto with Stu, looking up at the stars through the condensation of an encrusted glass (who did I steal that off anyway?) chewing on my cockroach
