Fiscus or Doc,

If I type in www.aussiehomebrewer.com.au on a fresh IE page, it continually ask's me to download a component from a company to patch my IE program for this website! <_<

Is this new or suppose to happen? I know it aint my PC, I can get to you site through other ways by using an URL with a topic listed in it.

Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Is it because you put the ".au" on the end??
Try just www.aussiehomebrewer.com without the ".au"

Barney,

Sounds like the redirection isn't working for your browser.
Your best bet is to use the following URL AussieHomeBrewer and save it to your bookmarks.

Maybe Fiscus can see more from the webserver logs.

Beers,
Doc

It's the HOME link up top. Don't click it!!!!!!!! (Red rag to a bull no doubt)

Just tried on 3 PCs at work and all got the same infection. Ah well they died in the line of duty ;)

Get Opera 7..
It has built in support to stop popups and all that crap IE makes you live with. Also your default home page won't get hijacked..

--Accept pop-up-up windows
--Refuse pop-up-up windows
--Open pop-up window in background
--Open requested pop-up windows only

Love the Tab pages support.

Ok guys I have been told the issue has been fixed. There was a problem with the webhost (an attack on their webserver).

Can you please let me know if you are still having the problem.

Please use http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com to test as it was the index pages that were affected. I can't test properly because I am behind a corporate proxy and caching is terrible.

the redirection should just take you from www.aussiehomebrewer.com to aussiehomebrewer.com/forum/

I have to have that until I finish the front page.

Are you still getting popups, etc?

Fiscus

I've checked the link you have there, checked my bookmark and manually typed the address and it all seems ok now.

Ok good to hear.

Sorry about that guys. Luckily I visting the website this morning. The webserver was attacked and some code was put on that hijacked index pages (tried to install porn toolbars, run malicious code, etc).

If anyone had selected yes (unknowingly) please update your virus definitions and run a scan just to make sure.

Sorry about this.

Yep seem ok now fiscus. Was it your server or your providers?
Was it the Exploit-MhtRedir.gen? Thats what my logs are coming up with.

It was the webhost - script kiddies using an Apache hole. The server has been patched and affected domains all fixed.

Not too sure what the actual virus was - it was coming on on mine as a trojan and then asking to install porn toolbars, etc. Scared the shit out of me - thought it might have been a personal attack, but i spoke to the webhosts and the whole shared server was attached.

Anyway things should be back to normal. No need to fear the HOME button now. It was only happening on that cause the cose attacks index pages....thats why normal forum pages were still working fine.

Hopefully we wont see this again.

Back to the drinking. :chug:

.....actually it's not 12 yet....maybe in a couple of hours!
