Speight's New Summer Beer has arrived...
Wednesday, 16 November 2005, 3:26 pm

The Brewers at the historic Speights Dunedin Brewery have been busy again, this time crafting a fresh and invigorating beer perfect for those great New Zealand summer days.
With the aim of spicing up summer Speights Head Brewer Tracy Banner and Brewer Ewen Cameron have created Speights latest limited release handcrafted beer - Speights Samradh Ale.

Samradh, pronounced Sam-raa is Scottish Gaelic for "summer, so what better name for a summer release beer brewed in Dunedin, a city steeped in Scottish heritage.

Speights Samradh Ale has been delicately infused with freshly ground pimento berries and natural ginger, which are added at the maturation stage of the brewing process, giving the beer subtle yet invigorating all-spice overtones.

The pimento tree is indigenous to the Caribbean islands, and the berries contain the characteristic cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and pepper flavours, while ginger stabilises and melds the pimento into an absolute mouthful of zest!

This beer at 4.5% presents well with a golden hue, and is a superb match with poultry and fish dishes. Try it with the Speights Ale Houses delicious Black Cherry Chicken, Chicken Parcels, or even the Blue 'n' Gold blue Cod lightly fried in Speights golden beer batter.

So head down to your local Speights Ale House today and celebrate the beginning of warm summer weather with a pint of Speights Samradh Ale - available on keg all summer long!

You want the poor guy to drink a beer full of ginger and pimento? What did he ever do to you?

How handy, speights is about 2 min walk away. Might have to wander down and try a pint. Sounds.....Interesting.

Given the quality of the previous speights "craft" range i'm not expecting anything fantastic. They have hot barmaids tho :super:

I hate you Doc. I took the liberty of correcting the press release, and am now washing my mouth out with imperial porter.

The Brewers at the historic Speights Dunedin Brewery have been busy again, this time crafting an insipid, urine coloured excuse for beer, perfect for those who just don't care about taste any more.
With the aim of spicing up summer Lion's Cheif Hatchet-woman Tracy Banner (responsible for the dumbing down of such great new zealand breweries as macs and wellington brewing company) and Brewer Ewen Cameron have created Speights latest limited release handcrafted beer - Speights Samradh Ale.

Samradh, pronounced Sam-raa is Scottish Gaelic for "summer, so what better name for a cheap and nasty tasting beer that has all the apeal of a scotsmans' arse crack after a sweaty round of caber tossing

Speights Samradh Ale has been butchered with freshly ground pimento berries and natural ginger, which are added at the dirty sock filtration stage of the brewing process, giving the beer subtle yet invigorating overtones of Bubblegum and Gran's remedy foot powder.

The pimento tree is indigenous to the Caribbean islands, and would have been far too expensive to use, so we just grabbed a few random spices from Tracey's kitchen and went nuts, while ginger is used to replace those pesky expensive hops.

This beer at 4.5% presents with a golden hue, only the temperature confirming that the piping from the urinal wasn't accidentaly re-routed, and is a superb match with anything hot enough to kill your taste buds.

So head down to your local Speights Ale House today and celebrate the beginning of warm summer weather with a pint of Speights Samradh Ale - We only brewed 10 gallons, but it's sure to last till march!
