With both a keg mate and summer on the way, I'd like to brew 3 kegs of tasty ~4% ABV ales with volume consumption in mind.

I've got a stash of hops:

- hallertau mit
- us cascade
- simcoe
- magnum
- EKG
- Northdown
- Galaxy
- Ella
- Summer
- saaz
- mosaic

Any suggestions on some grain bill and hop combos? I BIAB and generally no-chill.
 
5% Xtal
10% Wheat
85% pale malt
To about 1055

60min Hops of EKG (25IBU)
10min Saaz ( to about 32IBU
5-0min Saaz ( to about 35-37IBU )
 
If I had those hops on hand I would brew 3 summer ales, all cube hopped.

85% Pale
10% Wheat
5% Crystal

One with Mosaic and Simcoe, the second with Galaxy, Summer and maybe Ella, the third with EKG and Northdown.

*edit - spelling and also, I think I just found my next 3 brews.
 
That grain bill goes really well with an all Saaz hop schedule kept to about 35~ish IBU

I've never tried an all Saaz brew (not that I know of anyway), will have to give it a try.
 
Its very nice. Just dont go overboard with late/dry hopping

True Saaz tends to have a low AA% so you will need a fair bit

Its basically a Pilsner Ale

I did a pale with 80% pale, 18% wheat and 2% biscuit. Bittered with Northdown, Ella and Summer in the whirlpool and Ella, Summer, Galaxy dry. WLP009. Turned out to be a cracker.

60% pils
40% wheat

45 min mash @64c
30 min boil

10min addition mosaic/simcoe to 18ibu

Dry hop Galaxy 28g for 5day.

Edit - woops you no chill, just add hops to the cube.
 
A bit left field but you've got the hops for it. I recently did my first Patersbier and I'm finding it very refreshing (it'll definitely all be gone by summer).

100% pils. Saaz at 60min to 15IBU and a small amount of Hallertau Mit in the cube (3 IBU according to my no chiill calcs).
Ferment warm using your favourite Belgian yeast, I used WLP-550 because that's what the store had in stock.

It'd be a great lawnmower beer...I'm definitely re-brewing.

Edit: regarding strength tailor it to 4% if that's what you're after. My version was a little stronger (OG: 1046, FG: 1008).

Sounds good. On yeast, would you go with US05/1056/WLP001?
 
You can just do all pils and a tiny handful of roast barley for a golden ale. Rb gives it a beautiful golden colour. 1.038-40, 20 Ibu with some late hops. I like that type of abv, and while I love mild, sometimes you want a little hop.

They are all the same strain - chico from the US so go for it. I have tried all of those with this recipe, most recent was BRY97 which was excellent and my preferred.
 
Simcoe and galaxy are great
Mosaic and summer are great

Then I'd probably throw all the fruity style hops together in a session IPA ..... Mmmmm session IPA
 
Kolsch (ish):

All pils,or 90% pils and 10% wheat to 1.040 or thereabouts
Single infusion at 67C for 60min
90 minute boil
Depending on hop quantities on hand bitter with hallertau / magnum to 16IBU, then hallertau at flameout (15 min boil for me for no-chill) to 5IBU
WLP029

Lager for 2+ weeks at 1C if you can

Style nazis will complain its out of style at 4% or so, but thats half the fun
 
I like American wheat style grain bill for what I call smashers .... Aim for around 5%

55 % wheat 45 % pils for the base then it's 35 gm of dark crystal and 100gm of light crystal
Mash at 64 for 60 mins
Boil for 60 then add hops in at flame out aiming for around 35 using brew mates no chill option ..... Some times it tastes like it comes out a higher ibu than 35 but I don't mind that

I'm only a beginner mind you so I'm am still refining my technique

Us05 yeast fermented at 18

To drink fresh mmmmm

Can completely concur with this. Wyeast 3787, pils, saaz, hallertau, water and love. Surprisingly flavoursome beer that I'll be brewing again.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions, I think I'm going to brew:

- Belgian Lawnmower (Pils + Wheat + Biscuit; Hallertau and Saaz; 1214)
- Hoppy Session (Pale + Wheat + Crystal; a bunch of hops in the cube; 1056)
- Kolsch-ish (Pils + Vienna; Hallertau; 2565)
- English Bitter (Maris + Crystal + Spec Roast; Northdown and EKG; 1968)
 
Brewed the session ale last weekend and it's going into the fermenter today.

77% pale
8.5% munich
8.5% wheat
4.5% crystal 20L
1.5% carapils

Mashed at 66C and overshot my efficiency a little so ended up with a 1.048 wort instead of 1.040. I upped the hops a little to compensate.

Cascade at 40m for 15IBU
Simcoe and Mosaic in the whirlpool for 20IBU (thanks Paulyman)
Will dry hop with all three.

I've got a starter of WLP051 ready to go.

What % of RB would you be going for here? Are we talking as little as 1-2%?
