I saw something similar on the news the other day. It's about time they did something to help out the craft beer market, I think the wine makers have it much easier than the beer makers in terms of tax on their products.

It's about time WE did something. Do not rely on politicians to do the right thing...they do what is populist. Populist = votes = job security for politicians. The real issue is the burden that the excise places on start ups. Whether it's the boutique winery or new microbrewery, how can they compete with the entrenched suppliers? The big boys in the resources industry don't pay royalties until they achieve a level of return on equity. Why can't the same principle apply to startup wineries and microbreweries? The answer is political Influence. The big mining boys have the power to get a ramp up of taxes. Do the small business winery and brewry industry have that power...yes! If we can coordinate and exercise it. OK rant over...

That link looks like it has herpes. Worked though, good stuff. Think the good fellows were interviewed about it whilst at a brew pub recently.

Actually, small wineries already have major excise concessions. Small breweries do not.
Point taken, there is the WET rebate.
