Hi all,

Slowly acquiring the equipment I need to move to kegging. I can get a 19L Asahi keg for $50, which seems cheap enough. I believe this has an S type connection, whereas the more common type is a D type. I've read that opening / removing the spear from these kegs can be a pain in the @#$%, so my question to anyone who has, or has had, these type of kegs is are they too much hassle, or are they fine.

Cheers,

If you havent got the commerical keg already, you'll be much better served to get some corny kegs. Much, much easier to work with - especially as a beginner.

Thanks for the replies, you've confirmed pretty much what I was thinking. I'll keep checking out AHB, eBay etc for a couple of cheap corny's.

Same price as Cornelius type kegs. I'd definitely go with them instead. Easier to work with in terms of fittings, and much easier to clean.

Ive got "s" type spear kegs
Would recommend buying cornys
No coupler to buy
No beer shooting out of keg when you remove coupler and its not sealed right
Easier to clean
Dont buy for the same price you can get better
Go with the Cornys
