I've seen a number of recipes around using Rye, but have never seen it for sale.

The May-June issue of BYO has a great article on Rye with some great recipes using rye such as hefe-ryezen and Denny Conn's RypIPA.

Was talking to Dave at Brew Goliath a couple of days ago and he is looking at getting Rye in with his next order.

Has anyone else experimented with Rye and found a HBS that sells it in Oz ?

Beers,
Doc

I've had the same probs, really been wanting to do the RyePA recipe, but not been able to get rye malt. I checked on "tastybrew.com" and was promptly told crystal rye is not a suitable substitute.

Maltcraft have Rye malt as a stock item (number 6014 I think) so most places should be able to get some. B)

Have you dropped a line to the mad monk?? Is it actually malt/ed??

seen flaked rye at the go vita store

Yes I have kilos of the stuff. Malted rye. Also malted oats

Stirling organic market, Goodies for grains at the market etc will have flaked rye

I was planning on doing the ryePA as soon as possible (now I got my big boiling pot), and was planning to use Chinook and Cascade, apparently the Hallertau is a good sub for Mt Hood.
Maybe I should use Amarillo & Cascade, or chinook.

I have a 1272 yeast slurry sitting ready to go on this one, rapidly becoming my favourite yeast.
