Any suggestions? this was a slight modification of one of the more popular red ales in the database.

Steve.

I find it that if you give it some time for the beer to clear out the redness will come through a lot more.

And you could probably up the carared up to about 700-800g in a 40L batch.

Caraaroma will give you more of a red colour than carared.

exactement - I don't know why it's called red, its just not. Caraaroma will give you the full Julia Gillard effect.

And don't use half a kilo, 300g will do fine.

Does the full Juliar treatment mean that the beer will be a useless f#$king excuse for a beer.

I tell you what Bribie, if my Red looks half as good as that one I'll be a very happy camper.

Thanks guys, pity, I had some caraaroma lying around, maybe next time. Hopefully it looks a bit better with a few more weeks on it. Tastes just fine either way.

No it means I will get unprecedented bonuses paid directly into my bank account B)

I find that supplementing the red with roast barley makes it a bit too dark for my liking, but gives a bit of roast. For comps I would use RB but for personal consumption it's Carared all the way, plus that nice raisin flavour.

I would drop out the JW roast barley - that will be skewing the colour to a more brown hue even at 1%
