Brewer's Notes

Lovely copper amber colour, clear as a bell. No haze whatsoever. Soft almost sweet aroma of malt and hops, flowery and citrussy. Initial flavour is of malt sweetness into the mid palate, but then the hop flavour and bitterness kicks in to balance it all, leaving a lingering hop bitterness on the aftertaste. Beautiful beer, one of my best. It's been positively reviewed by 3 other forum members. 30 and 15 gr Cascade and Columbus additions were FWH. 25 gr Columbus was dry hopped. Halcyon malt was floor malted. BeerSmith2 gives the IBU as about 60. OG 1.061 Fg 1.011.

I think 2000kg of Munich makes this beer too expensive for me to brew. Lol.

Interested to see the correct recipe, the ibus were zero as well?

And that's the problem with the Recipe DB on this forum.

It's published before you have an opportunity to review and edit it first.

Hello Warra,
Like the look of this recipe.
How do you think this recipe would work if the Columbus was subbed for Chinook?
The reason I ask is that I don't have Columbus but have plenty of Chinook.
Cheers

I think it would work well. Go for it!

Chinook and Cascade make a great combination. I've used it successfully in the past in other brews.

Have to agree. I find Chinook a great foil for cascade, centennial and citra. Its piney flavour tends to compliment fruitier hops and stop it becoking passiona or fanta.

Couldn't agree more chinook + cascade = :icon_drool2:

The hops of LCPA (primarily anyways)... delicious combo which I have used in a few brews as well.

Can't go wrong...

Thanks for the replies, hopefully I will brew it in the next fortnight.
Once I've tried it I'll report back here.

I see from the recipe that the last 25g of Columbus is dry hopped, how would Chinook go being dry hopped?
I assume it was dry hopped in the fermenter, is that right?
Cheers Warra.

Yes, I dry hop in the primary fermenter, and also bottle straight from there.

Chinook dry hopped will be fine. I've did that some years ago in an LCPA clone, and it was good.
Or you could simply dry hop with more Cascade. Will also be good.
Or half and half.
It's up to you!
