Trad ale 85%

T Wheat 10%

Crystal 5%

Hops

northern brewer...... bittering

Ammarilo Cascade flowers Perle flowers favour

go for a og of 1.040 to 1.056 and about 40-60 IBU ang you gotta yummy APA :icon_chickcheers:

You could go the APA route with what you have on hand:

85% Trad Ale
10% Wheat
5% Crystal

For hops you could use the Perle for bittering and then Amarillo, B-Saaz and/or Cascade for flavour and/or aroma. US05 as your yeast.

If looking at a wheat beer, maybe 60% Pilsner & 40% wheat with B-Saaz for flavour & aroma though would need to get a wheat yeast though could do it with the US05

Here is a wheat beer recipe using what I have on Hand. Trying to keep it simple as possible!
Do you think there are major holes in this recipe?

The american 2 row could be either BB Galaxy or Ale malt.
Also have BB caramalt and Wey Carafa iii.
I also have US-05 in the fridge.
I have heaps of amarillo and cluster, plus 40G or so of palisade and smargard.

Any suggestions on how to improve ths with what I have on Hand Greatly appreciated!

Wheat Beer 1 (American Wheat or Rye Beer)

Original Gravity (OG): 1.053 (P): 13.1
Colour (SRM): 3.7 (EBC): 7.3
Bitterness (IBU): 22.9 (Average)

50% American 2-Row
50% Wheat Malt

1 g/L Cluster (5.7% Alpha) @ 60 Minutes (Boil)
1 g/L Cluster (5.7% Alpha) @ 20 Minutes (Boil)

0.2 g/L PH 5.2 @ 90 Minutes (Mash)
0.3 g/L Yeast Nutrient @ 25 Minutes (Boil)

Single step Infusion at 66C for 90 Minutes. Boil for 80 Minutes

Fermented at 20C with Wyeast 3638 - Bavarian Wheat

Notes: First Go at a wheat beer. Keeping recipe simple but shooting for a bit higher alcohol. Had caramalt and carafa 3 here. Experiment next time
Using cluster as I have heaps, and rated as an all rounder.
15 L batch into cube. Beer has been shit so small batch to practice.

Fit tap to cube to fill fermentor without too much shit.

Hops go in bag
Using element in keggle.

23/07/2010 11:48:05 AM : Boil Length 80 min - 60 min flame 20 min Whirlpool and no Chill.

20 min addition actually into cube.

Pitch yeast at 15 C ferment at 20C.

edit: learned how to post recipe!

If you're shooting for an american wheat, the 3638 will probably give too much flavour and aroma. You'd want something cleaner and more neutral.

Will run the US-05 then and save the 3638 for something different further down the track.

Any input on the hopping side of things?
