One an ebay Auction for.

2 Ferminators and all their bits and a 187 longneck bottles great for a new homebrewer to add to my stockpile.

Washed thoroughly with Bottle wash and bottle brush really scrubbed hard rinsed like a champion.

Had them all ready to go.....

Bottled:

1 Brew - Beermakers old, half dark malt, half light malt, half a kilo of dark grain about $33.

2. Blackrock East India Pale Ale, 1 kg of dried light malt, cascade hops - $30 odd.

3. Thomas Coopers Aus Lager, 1 Kilo of Liquid malt - $35.

4. Coopers Draught, Brew Enhancer 2 - $15, whilst bottling this brew I noticed something on the inside of the bottle I tipped it upside down and saw about 2 mm of gunk in it, I had never thought to check the inside of the bottles figuring that I'd got it all out and in my simple minded daze never checked it

It goes without saying that all of them with this bottles are to risky and obviously in similar condition and are destined for the drains.

I had to bottle about 15 in plastic so atleast it wasnt a total waste - Why couldnt it had have been number 1 or 2 my favs????

I actually cried, then swore every name under the sun....

Now I am down to like 15 longnecks that are drinkable, I have two more in primary ready for racking so I should have my stocks up soon and two more batch's ready to do which I was meant to do last night but was unable to due to being so angry.

To top it all off, my garage is current locked as I have lost the key and have to find it.... Pray for me it turns up.

Anyway guys thats my rant! - Anyone who meets me can feel free to belt the crap out of me for my stupidity, my missus already verbally did!

Get a locksmith to open the garage, then lock yourself in there with those 15 longnecks. You'll be over it in no time.

I dont know.............. Those where actually my XMAS stocks, for when I am having some mates around about 3 weeks hence! With the way these boys guzzle to buy the 6 of them enough beer is going to be pricey.... Plus I promised "FREE BEER" and my "Home brew" They are going to laugh there arses off behind my back.... And I am a man of my word, between replacing brews + cartons, two trips to the dentist in the last 2 weeks I am going to be eating vegemite sandwich's come xmas :(

Wow. it really sucks to be you.... But remember why we all do this hobby, because of the love of beer. Beer makes it better, shit can happen but there will always be beer. Now i have found out i may be allergic to beer (Coeliac disease) now that really sucks.

Bummer !

Can you borrow a couple of kegs from someone?

If you brew now you would have Ale ready for the drinkers at least

Must hurt

Sounds like a bummer.
Try and put on a couple of quick kits.
That way you may have more beer ready when the mates turn up.

Guys do you have any kits that if I put on now can have about 10 days in primary in 2.5 weeks in the bottle it has to be ready by 10/12.

At the moment ready to put on I have Brewiser Pilsener and Coopers Australian Pale Ale(I go one week decent IE morgans, brewcraft ect and every other week cheapy's) I like Pilseners but I know its not to everyones pallet, I am using Ultra brew 500g light malt, 250 grams dextrose and 250 grams Maltodextrin with both.

I am so p!ssed off!

Start the Coopers kit today and it'll easily be ready to drink by then :)

PZ.

Still though 30 longnecks between 6 blokes is barely 5 each :( I've actually got my belgium ale from another thread that should be well and truly nice by then so hopefully all will be well aye.

Are you sure all the bottles are off? Bad smell or taste?? They may not all be the same. Just a thought. :)

"30 longnecks between 6 blokes is barely 5 each"
that's 10 stubbies each
if they want more than that tell 'em to make their own freakin beer.

Mate out of about 10-15 bottles I check 2/3 where bad, and if offbeer is in there I could get as sick as a pig drinking it, its just not worth the risk IMO.

Off to the HBS for a 60l fermentor & 2 x American Pale Fresh Worts + 2 x US-56 yeast
Pitch 2 Wort kits today and you will have a great beer for your mates to brag about.
James

Agree with Stuster , perhaps the rest of the bottles are OK

You have two fermenters? Get two Coopers kits cranking...Quick!! ;)

Off the same guy and they had been laying around for about 2 years apparently, I'm just not willing to risk it, think about it may taste fine but if there is a bit of bacteria even a tiny bit over a 7-8 longneck session.... I dont want to go there.

And I have 4 fermentators generally 2 in primary rack it, then fill up again the next day with new brew. Fermentors are rarely empty for 12 hours, only got extra 2, 2 weeks ago, so stocks are still small, probably about the equivalent of 3 cases left to drink that will more then go over the next 2 weekends.

But when I get home tonight @ about 10pm I am going to put both straight on! - Working all w/end due to stocktake.

You could try this idea from Bodensatz Brewing. Pasteurize the beer, then rebottle and recarbonate. ;) It seems from what I can find that there is not really a big health problem, but...

The first thing I always do with an infected beer, wine or mead is to pasteurize it to halt the infection from getting even worse. Slowly bring it up to 165F-170F, hold for 10 minutes or so, then chill, package, and reintroduce some fresh yeast (preferably a small starter of active yeast, but I've also used just rehydrated dry)

If the taste is OK at this point, nothing more is required. In your case, the only thing I can recommend from experience is dry hopping. Just go out and pick up an ounce of 3-6% AA whole finishing hops appropriate to the beer style. If using pellets, add in a hop bag and put a copper pot scrubber over the bottom of the long dip tube. I'm not sure if pellet hops do as well for dry hopping, since I've only ever used whole hops for that.

p.s. You sure that's an infection? The film kind? Or mold? Personally, whenever I get something like that, I pasteurize the beer and then reintroduce some yeast. I've only once had a beer ruined on me by an infection. The flavour was quite noticably off. But I just dry-hopped the hell out of it, and you could hardly tell the difference when drinking it ;-)

cheers,
-Alan

buy 2 cartons of longnecks & soak the labels off :)

They are going to laugh there arses off behind my back....

Sound like the sort of mates you want to feed that bad beer to!! <_<
& keep the 15 longies tucked away for yourself.....

For a quick turnaround beer you can't go past a hefeweizen

It was black mold, and to be honest dude I'd rather just chuck the ******* and right it off, that other stuff sounds way beyond my capabilities @ the moment.

First I've gotta find the bloody garage keys I honestly dont know where they are and I have a bottle tree and other bits and peices on order so pretty broke!
