So I found this in the mash after I had transferred over the sparge volume to take my pre-boil readings...

I was aiming for 82% and got 83% so it obviously helped a bit!

What sort of random things have you added to the mash, boil or ferment - intentionally or otherwise... - to improve things?

erm ... any particular theory as to how this got in there?
Annoyed the missus recently, fishing for kittens, etc?

I've been hanging around with too many Americans, sounds like I want to start my own talk show.

I had re-done a couple of threaded fittings and had it sitting on the top lip of the esky to keep the lid open. Pretty confident that would have done it. :) Hopefully pretty harmless... like the airlock a while ago that I found in the bottom of the fermenter after a beer.

" Primary: Red Tape Ale "

So will this one be called Thread Tape Ale?!!
