So i made my way to the local HBS today to get some supplies and with my memory of a goldfish couldn't work out whether i had previously used dextrose or maltodextrin for bulk priming  . of course i took a punt and ended up getting the wrong one to what i wanted, that being maltodextrin. so my question is, how will the amount of maltodextrin i add to bulk prime differ from that of dextrose?

cheers

Yes the amount will be different because it will be zero! Maltodextrin doesnt ferment very much, maybe 10 to 30% depending what grade you got, so its really no good for bottle priming. Its often written on the packet, "not for bottling". Use table sugar rather than the maltodextrin.

Dazzling,

Maltodextrin won't work at all. Hope you haven't bottled yet?

It's not really fermentable. Just adds body to the beer.

Maltodextrin is no good for priming at all, the majority of it is unfermentable.
