Hello all Canberrans!

This weekend I'm taking time out from the world and hitting the beer nexus known as Canberra. Is anyone keen to meet up for an ale or two at the Wig and Pen on Saturday night? I've heard a lot about the beers there but in all the years of visiting the ACT have never stopped in for one. This Satnight, I have a limited visa to hit the town. Who's with me?

Cheers,
PoMo

Yeah, what crappy timing your trip was, Linz :)

What else is currently on tap?

Surely there are some Canberra brewers who're free on Sat evening to sit and drink a few pints and talk too much about beer???? Otherwise, does anyone know if Wig and Pen will fill a growler?

Pomo,
I would love to catch up, but I am off to the coast for the Father-in-law's birthday

I'm sure some others of the Canberra fraternity would be able to catch up though.

Festa.

Just got back to our accomodation from the W&P. Between the Mrs and I we sampled the Wit, the Weizen (why is it called "Amber"? it was just a hefe to me), the English Pale Ale, the IPA, the Stout and the Munich Dunkel. All very nice beers. Very nice indeed.

Mate see my post on the Spice Beer Recipe thread. I was there a few days ago and could have done with a beer buddy to ehlp me through the selection. You are in for a real treat mate.

On tap when I was there from memory was the Hefe, Organic, Dunkel, Spiced Porter, Velvet Stout, Dark Lagar, Pilsner, Wizen, Imperial Stout, and others but the memory has gone.

Enjoy mate, wish I was there to help

There are two good things on in Canberra tomorrow (Sunday 20/8)

An open day ay the new Zierholz Brewery in Unit 7/19-25 Kembla St Fyshwick with tours at 10am, 11am and 12pm.

The science show at the Convention Centre in Constiution Ave, Civic have a Brewing Science in Action stall run by Canberra Home Brewing Club with free samples. The other stalls are also good.

I took the Kids today and it was good fun.

I missed out on the Zierholz. I would have been very keen to check it out. It will pay me to do some more research next time I head down there. Had lunch with Mrs PoMo's 94 year old grandmother instead. That was good too.

I missed a beer in the list above. We also had the Koelsch. Quite nice, at least I know my own attempt earlier this year was close to the ball park.

Any Canberran that doesn't drink out mostly at the Wig and Pen is nuts, imho. Great little pub (literally, it is TINY!).
