I have two kegs I recently bought and they have a distinct pepsi smell and brown grime on the inside.

I soaked it for 12 hours with 100g of caustic in a full keg of water but did not budge.

What's a tried and true method for getting rid of pepsi scum?

Cheers, Andrew.

Napisan Oxy action , If I dont say it Ducati Stu will

Hot caustic works best, about 5 litre of boiling water with that caustic. A Scotch-Brite scourer (green pad) works good too.

Caustic works best when hot. READ AND HEED ALL SAFETY DIRECTIONS. CAUSTIC WILL BURN, EYES CANNOT BE SAVED. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES, GLOVES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING.

I use napisan for my kegs. The rubber seals are hard to clean, the aroma doesn't simply wash out. You can try boiling in water, or soaking in cleaner but most people find that the seals need replacing to get rid of the syrup smell.

Thanks guys, I'll try the napisan first and then the hot caustic if need be. I have some spare seals as well.

Cheers, Andrew.

Pink Stain works well for me. Dont forget to remove the nipples and soak the poppets and o rings in it as well or else your beer will taste like pepsi
