Hi,

I am a Kit and Kilo brewer only atm.

My next brew is to be a Pale Ale, am considering either a Coopers Australian Pale Ale or an India Pale Ale.

Firstly thoughts from the masters about which is better as a Home Brew?

Also if I go down the IPA route what is the best KK and what Hops and Yeast should I use?

Andrew.

i'd go the IPA so hopefully you can't taste the K&K flavours so bad

over to you Masters.....

;)

Black Rock - East Indian Pale Ale

1KG of Dextrose
250G of Light Dry Malt

It's never failed for me, always tastes good..

Ok- one of the best/easiest K&K IPA is Coopers IPA can with a BrewGoliath IPA Kit.
Use 1084 Irish Ale for english IPA. Ferment primary 10 days, secondary 2 weeks and dry hop with 25gms of EKG.
For APA use 1056 Yeast and add 30gms of Amarillo in the 10min boil.
Ferment as above but dry hop with 30 gms of Cascade in the secondary.

Bulk prime/keg and then drink and enjoy.

hang on, Amorillo is scarcer than mustaches at a Britney Spears concert.
better suggest another, Grand Master....

And a BrewGoliath kit must now be considered a collectors item since the shop is closed :)

i think Bill at Holden Hill is still running things via post re: Goliath

Right on Tangent - Bill is running BrewGoliath - give teh BBC memebers a discount...

Could use CHinook instead of Amarillo - but Chinook can be an aquired taste.
Otherwise - go with Cascade.

Is taht better Tangent.

Yep.

The almighty Amarillo is as rare as rocking horse shit at the moment. <_< I was told by Grain and Grape last Friday that there will be none until the new season. :(

In other words December at the absolute earliest. Bugger!

Warren -

100g of amirrilo going real cheap at $100, anyone?

Misty Mountain hop
Jayse

damn hop scalpers!
ok i'll take 2 for the Stones and a half kilo of pure Amarillo

nice work Yoda Ken :)

how's my stainless false ass coming along?

Anyway...

I would go the IPA, as most people so far have suggested... I haven't had that much IPA before; in fact I haven't drank that much hoppy beer at all; when I went to GMK's place I tried some nice hoppy beers (I think some people have noticed that he likes hoppy beers), and so I went on to make an IPA (ready to be gassed, once I replace the line between regulator and keg... grr) and I bought a carton of Squire IPA- very nice.

Anyway, where was I?? Oh yeah, go the IPA; one of the recipes mentioned earlier, they are quite nice.

P&K, do your palate a favour and try an Emersons IPA (500ml brown bottle) i reckon it sh!ts on the JS version.

Emersons, eh??

Well, JS is the first IPA I've tried; I'm new to IPAs!

What bottlos would sell it?? Near me is the highbury (which is expensive and has limited range) and a BWS. Also is the Bremen hotel; a place that thinks that Empire is made by West End.

Will a Pale Ale and or IPA benefit from Cold Conditioning?

Also anyone else have any good K&K Pale and or IPA recipes?

I have found that my IPA's get better the longer they are in the keg for, that said - it still tastes good young but it just seems to be that little bit better once it's been sitting cold for a couple of weeks.

Hey Guys,

I think Brewers Den in Boronia (Vic) stock Amarillo. I'm pretty sure they had some last time I was in there.

I just transferred a MSB pale ale into secondary, and it seems to be a nice brew so far. The only thing I added was extra Saaz.

Scotty.

hi brownie,

here's one that I found ok.

Black Rock I.P.A
Brew Booster 1.0kg
Coopers DME 250gm
SAFale S-04
22lt

5 days primary
7 days secondary

make a hop tea with 12gm Cascade pellets, add 2days into secondary.

18C if you can.

cheers

Haha I can be a help instead of a whinger for once.

Black Rock East India Pale Ale.
500g light malt.
250 dextrose
250g maltodextrin.

Cascade hops steeped in a tea bag for 20 mins and add to fermentor before yeast.

7 days primary and secondary :)
