Hey all,

Just called BOC to price rental and refills for a cylinder of O2 - came out as jut a bit too expensive to be able to justify it. Do people tend to share this kind of thing? I'd be keen to go in with one or two others, and just swap when we need it.

Anyone had any experience with this?

Cheers,

Jon

What do you want a bottle of oxygen for? Do you mean carbon dioxide?

I'm after it for aerating mead must, and HG worts. Easier to avoid infection than using an aquarium pump.

Jonny,

check this thread

I found the cylinders at Heatcraft in Bankstown and got the regulator with the attached stainless diffusion stone from www.morebeer.com

The cylinder is quite small though and only lasted me about 7or 8 30 second blasts into my wort thru the morebeer regulator.

Hope this helps

Second the point above- I've found the Bernzomatic O2 cylinders at a local hardware store here in Melbourne, and use the morebeer regulator. Depending on who you read/ believe, each bottle lasts 10-20 brews assuming around a 30sec blast, I've got around 8 or so out of my first one and it's still going.

Hope that helps, certainly seems much cheaper option than hiring from BOC etc

Sounds like Bernzomatic are the way to go. Many thanks guys!
