does it mean this
the NSFW tag is used in e-mail, videos, and on interactive discussion ... have policies prohibiting (even inadvertent) access to sexually explicit content.

Bloody good idea.

A gif of some blokes cock is funny the first time.

Fucking annoying when it happens over and over.

Downright embarrasing when it comes up in your most visited sites.

And before a smartass says hover, that don't work in chrome.

Since we're talking about one specific link being an issue, surely it'd be easier to apply a filter rather than potentially create a shitfight with what will be perceived as heavy-handed policy?

Not saying it is heavy-handed, just that it may be seen that way by some. I think the issue has most certainly been out of hand for some time. Gotta expect a bit of that stuff in Off Topic (this is the internet, after all) but it shouldn't happen in more serious fora.

You may either not use the front page or have the panel hidden by something like Adblock.

"Important Announcement: Linking to inappropriate and NSFW content or hiding inappropriate content behind legitimate looking links will not be tolerated. There's been a couple of instances of this recently. You'll be banned for a week on first offense, repeat offend and banned for good."

Cheers bum.

Dane, you would be better of placing this on every page, not just the front page. Otherwise people get banned and don't even know why.

I for one never visit the front page.

Main issue is the 'link baiting' - hiding porn behind legitimate links is not tolerated.

If it's NSFW, then it should be marked as such.

Any content that falls into NSFW should be isolated to Off Topic and Humor anyway, member know they can steer clear of those forums while not at home.

It's not one specific link and even if I did start to filter stuff, who would be maintaining that list? Me? No thanks.

Filtering, IMO, just doesn't work.

It's simple, don't post inappropriate content behind inconspicuous links.

If you are posting questionable content, mark it as such and only post it in the appropriate forums.

And finally, if it's questionable, offensive or against the posting guidelines then understand that it may be pulled and marked as invisible.

Totally agree that link baiting should be moderated. I have and do work at places where internet traffic is logged and people accessing inappropriate sites are flagged and there are repercussions.

Punkin - hovering should work in chrome? I'm using chrome and the link URL appears in the bottom left of the screen. Not that you'll need to hover now anyway.

Little bit OT but when i first seen the NSFW acronym i thought it meant New South F#%!ing Wales. soon learnt different  .

Seriously the false linking has because a little tired and annoying for the reasons mentioned.

Especially juvenile when a member constantly posts porn links and only ever seems to post boofy-boy comments about scrotums etc, without ever contributing anything helpful or constructive to home brewing discussions, and you wonder why they are on the forum anyway.

Sure some fora are a bit staid, like the UK ones, but even they have their moments. However they tend to stay more on topic, which I guess is due to their mods rules.

What Don said.
Fellas you are getting away from the point. To me NSFW also means make sure the kids aren't watching.

I don't know if you have kids. But I for one do not agree with my 2 young children catching a view of that sort of thing.
You might think its funny, plenty dont.
