I'm getting Foxtel switched off on Thursday and because the roof antenna is totally stuffed we'll have no TV for a few weeks. Laptop has HDMI and we'll still have ADSL 1 1/2 till we leave. I don't have a TurdBox. Big units block with steel roof out the back precludes buying a digital antenna dongle.

What's some good IPTV free services? ABC do one directly but it chews up the gigs.

I only get 13 GB per month as it is, any idea what sort of data IPTV goes through typically? I realise that it all depends on the bitrates of the various channels.

If I learn Mandarin or Korean I expect I'll be spoiled for choice hahahahah. It's mostly for SWMBO, like most of my age cohort I'm happy watching RedTube.

Cheeers

Bribie G and no it won't be Taree G :p

Most IPTV will chew up your gigabytes.

You can also use a VPN (eg: http://unblock-us.com) that can enable free iptv streams from the UK (BBC's iPlayer is pretty good) and the US etc, that are normally restricted to viewers in those countries. I used it to watch the Olympics, because channel 9's coverage was pathetic.

embrace not being controlled by the idiot box.
Best decision I ever made. Lots more spare time and you get more sex. Seems pretty good to me

I don't know what the big attraction is with TV, personally I don't really like it.

I'm pretty sure I haven't watched TV in about 12 weeks. Watched a bit of MacGuyver and Star Trek when the wife was watching DVD's... but half the time our antenna is not plugged in and we're exclusive internet / book type people.

67 episodes of BrewingTV, Michael Jackson - Beer Hunter, Beer wars, Your Shout etc.....time to get geeky about beer!

I havnt watched Real tv for about 3 years we have a plasma in the lounge and the kids dont watch it either , if i like a show i get it on dvd and watch it on my laptop , no adds

I rarely watch FTA TV which has declined horribly in the last few years. My usual screen viewing is History Channel, Nat Geo, Discovery etc or movies and I do like HD and Blu Ray on my 50" Pana.

SWMBO likes Crime Investigation, particularly Serial Killer Sunday :p

Yesterday I was cleaning up the brauhaus and there was all this barking going on for half an hour. I was going to write a note "keep you fucken dog quite" and post it in the house over the street (you should always post illiterate notes as it frightens them more) then I went up the corridor and it was "Dog Rescue Philadelphia" on the screen

PS is a "book" a hard copy Kindle type thing??

+2 for the no TV more Sex party, I made the change a year or so back.

I'll watch a movie if a mate tells me I 'Must watch this awsome movie', and I love Seinfeld (Who Doesn't), so its always part of a lazy Hangover day. But rarely watch proper Tv, and i'm not allowed to watch the news as it makes me get angry i'm told by the wife, she's right.

I barely even use the mobile phone anymore, leave it on the kitchen table and check it a couple of times a day, which pisses all my mates and family off :D :D

What did a family do before TV, talked to each other perhaps? Even ate a meal without the TV going.

We must have been silly back then hey?

Knitting and making matchstick battleship models was cool, whilst waiting for TV to be invented. B)

For some 'back then' is 'here and now'.

'Tis a fine beard ya have grown, Isaac'.

Though adhering to a laundry list of cultural prohibitions and reading the Lutheran Bible by candle light may not be as appealing to many as internet porn and PS3.
