Hi everyone, first time poster, long time reader.

I have been interested in homebrew for a while now. I am finally at the point where I can start brewing my own beer at home.

Three days ago I put down my first batch which has the following:

Coopers Canadian Blonde kit
1kg BE1
500g LDM

It has been sitting between 20 and 22*C and is bubbling away very nicely.

I can't wait to see if it turns out and taste it once it has done.

Cheers.
Corey

Well done, mate! Welcome to the board and the hobby.

Best be leaving the lid on though, Corey. Don't want to be inviting too many nasties in there to spoil your maiden brew.

Thanks Bum ;)

I took a quick pic when I was taking the Krausen collar out of the fermenter this morning.

Hey bud! Welcome, I must admit it gets CRAZY addictive hobby! I've just started on this journey on my 4th batch now and I have to say Blondes my best so far. My latest batch Im bottling this week I went a bit further with everyones help here and recommend you do the same once you kick off the trainer wheels, looks like its going to be a cracker! I went with:

Coopers Canadian Blonde
1kg Booster (Dextrose/LDM/Corn) from Brewers Choice or LHBS
250g Pilsner grain
Cascade Hops bag
US05 Yeast

Links here for a good beginners read ;) Let us know how it turns out dude.

Thanks for that Saint Roam. Yeah my father in law is having a crack at it also.
I will eventually work my way up to more adventurous things, but, at the moment I am going to try the kits I know I will like on their own and then start playing mad scientist with them from there.

Just from all the reading I have done I am already addicted mate ;)

Great hobby to have.

Just remember, three things to make great beer is having the correct temperature, make sure everything is sanitized and that your ingredients are as fresh as they can be (when using kits look for the best before date furthest away.

I also don't like to use the Coopers yeast a lot so I normally buy some packs of US-05 (I also re use yeast to make it a little cheaper) which seems to make the beer even better.

Thanks for that Mattyra. I have seen re-using yeast a lot but haven't read up on it to much......yet! I don't really want to read to far ahead of where I am at to cut down on any confusion.

Cheers for the info though.

I have been misled by the title.... I was expecting another type of blonde.

I thought it would be a good way to get people in to thread to help me out ;)

Seems to be working.

Welcome aboard Corey, that's some purdy looking krausen you've got there... makes me want to stick my head in there n' lick it :icon_drool2:

(disclaimer: krausen licking is not advised or condoned by poster)

Thanks Gar. Happy to be aboard mate.

The Blonde is coming along very nicely. Sitting in the cupboard all tucked in at a toasty 19*C and starting to smell very sweet and malty.

Will start taking some hydrometer readings later in the week and hoping to be able to bottle over the long weekend or early next week.

You know what I reckon would be nice in there? 10g goldings dry hopped.

The hop additions will come after I try all of the kits "as is", and then I will start mucking around with hops etc.

Cheers for the tip though petesbrew.
