having recently recieved mt hood hops (thanx crispy ) i was curious if anyone has tried them and how close/similar in flavour/aroma are they to hallertauer.im planning on doing an oatmeal pale ale on saturday which the recipe calls for hallertauer and saaz but am thinking of swapping the hall for mt hood.

any comments/help appreciated.

I'll be interested in your result Dave , I have a bit of Mt Hood myself (yet to try)

I believe there are no bad hops , just different hops

Keen to try my Green Bullet too

They're pretty close. Hallertauer Hersbrucker's tend to have a bit more delicate aroma, but I'd be surprised if you could tell the difference without a side-by-side comparison. I prefer Mt. Hoods because of the slightly higher alpha acid rating and the fact that they are waaaaay easier to grow and yield more.
 
Noticed that the myrcene is 55-65% which is high for this "harsher" hop oil, certainly higher than in the nobles. However others say it is similar and they like it.
