I noticed the mountain Goat IPA in a liquor store in Adelaide yesterday.
Any of you guys in the Eastern states tried this? Report please.

Whilst I was there I bought a South African Ur-Bock (7% abv) for $3. I think it is from Windhoek Breweries. I will try on the weekend and post my opinion.

Cheers and bollocks

My bottlo here in Newcastle is usually pretty quick with these things but I'm yet to see the IPA. I got an email from the Mountain Goat list this morning though to say that they are having a brewery open night tonight in Melbourne and will be tasting the IPA, so all you Melbourne brewers get there and let us know what you reckon. Must be some advantage to living down there.... :D

Mountain Goat Pale Ale

I was not too impressed with this beer.
I was not that impressed with LCPA either.

It did not have enough flavour or hops for me - a little bland.

The Mountain Goat Strong Ale was a much better beer IMHO.
More hops, more malt and alot more flavour.

Ken, sorry to inform you but Mountain Goat do not make a Strong Ale  ! I think your confused with James Squires Australian Strong Ale.

The Mountain Goat IPA is a brand new beer, only been around for approx. 1 month, maybe less. Adds to their Pale Ale, Hightail Ale, and Surefoot Stout which are all already available. They have also made some other seasonal beers apparently which were only available through the brewery itself and selected Melbourne pubs. At least so their website tells me...

Ive had this a couple of times now and I reckon its pretty good. Very hoppy and smooth.

I remember trying their Hightail Ale a few years ago when it came out and I really liked that as well.
Still not as good as Coopers for me.
I suppose it all comes down to personal taste in the end.

I've subscribed to them as well but they didnt even acknowledge it.
Oh well only live down the road from their brewrey.
Maybe I'll just drop in.

hightail not as good as coopers?
where did i put my red cards?

Ken those beers are not hoppy enough?
Do you mean bitter?
any more bitterness in lcpa and it would be shockingly out of balance.

I must be be going mad then these are the hoppiest beers i have found just about.

anyway everyone can't like the same stuff or it would get boring i guess.

Still haven't got a MG I.P.A.
But it looks like its just made its way over here. i can't wait.

ok jayse,
maybe I am being a bit hasty.
Admittedly i havent had a Hightale lately and I have been drinking Coopers for much longer than Mountain Goat.
Hightail was one of those beers I distinctly remember the first time I sampled it. One where I thought "this is really good".
Coopers was the same, that was about 15-20 yrs ago now, while I was over in SA. (thats a contender for the "Beer you've most enjoyed" thread).
Now youv've got me thinking.
I think I will walk the 150 meters up the road and take out a couple of both the Hightail and the IPA.
Have a bit of a reassess. :D :D :D

cheers
