Anyone brewing a commemorative brew today?

I have just been bottling a Belgian Tripel (11.5%). Due to some 'spillage' I don't think I will be doing much at all today.
 
Not brewing, but hopefully doing a bit more work on the 6-tap chest freezer after I've done some housework.

Maybe we should share the joy of cup day with our interstate brothers and sisters?

It's warm and sunny, there's no traffic on the roads, most of us had the day off yesterday as well (no point going back to work for just 1 day is there?).

original plan was a smoked porter but have put it off till tomorrow.lazy day today.
get the grains and yeast starter ready.

It's not only the Mexicans who have the day off. I have given myself the day off :D and am just making an experimental beer with some glacier hops. I got them in the hop bulk buy a few months ago, never used them before and I'm looking forward to seeing what they are like.

Not sure it's a commemorative beer, but it's sure nice to be brewing rather than working. :super:

I could, but just between you and me I don't care about the cup. I do like the coincidence that I decided to brew it today, though.
 
Maybe a brew called "Dogfood, gelatin and glue."
 
Ross, looks like you are doing a spring clean of the hops storage area.

Maybe you could call it "Clean Sweep" in keeping with Melbourne Cup day.

LOL - may well call it that - Does look like a clean out, but actually carefully worked out.... :D Hops steeping at the end of boil as we speak...
 
Today i've been brewing my NSW xmas case which is in the style of an an American brown ale. I have yet to name it but maybe i should name it after the winner of the melbourne cup? i have left it till the very last minute i know, but my contribution should be carbonated and conditioned enough for you guys to drink around the 10th dec..... so its before xmas which is the main thing!

love trying new hops, especially all the new American varieties...
Just about to put in an order for a heap more as well...Will probably be offering some up on here, as I have to order in 1kg packs & that'll be a few too many in some varieties...

I just did an ultra simple pale ale...
Joe White Malt, bittered with POR and flavoured with Cascade and a recultured Coopers yeast.

I was going to call it "Diva Ale", but it's hardly worthy.
Amazing horse. Great ride.
No winner backed. :(
