My eldest son gave a belated birthday presie

image.jpg.

160 clean Grolsh bottles all with new seals etc.
Mmm some nice German styles may be on the cards.

Gotta love that!!
I wonder - did he buy them all new (and empty) in one lot, or drink them one by one?

Ha,no he got them all new and empty, they were advertised on Gumtree here locally for the princely sum of $ 50.00 for the lot.
The conversation went like this.
" hey dad I found 160 flip top bottles on Gumtree, you want them as a late birthday presie "
My reply, " does Gladys Knight have Pips "?
" What" ?
" Fckn oath I want them "
" Er okay I'll grab them for you"
..cheers....spog....

Lost me there too...

What a score - I've been off bottling since getting kegs, but I'm starting to realise there's some styles that just go better in a bottle. So I'll be keeping an eye out for these little beauties.

really? What styles are those?

'Shouldnt' be a difference really... perhaps perceived..

ed: I was lucky enough to score 3 or 4 crates of flip tops for nix and stupid enough to put a mild in them...

I had a similar score when I picked up my Grolsh bottles.

Saw an ebay auction that simply said 100+ bottles.

I thought I'd be a bit cheeky and send the guy and offer of $75 to "but it now" thinking he would want at least $100.

He said yes to the $75 straight away.

When I went to pick them up he was generous in his ad saying 100+....

Turned out there was 220 bottles.

Weizen - cloudy=good, clear=bad (less good)
Strong dark Belgian - don't want that on tap.
Any other "occasional beer" - keep the kegs free for session brews.
Fishing take aways - a bottle after a long night on deck is okay, but a keg in the galley.....
