Ive been out of the game wahile . Last monday i made up a kit without realising i mixrd 4l more water in than supposed to. My problem is the gravity doesnt seem to be moving. Is there some way i can increase the gravity without loosing the whole batch?Could it be the yeast i used us-05? I would appreciate your input.
 
Do you mean you diluted too much and have thinned it out too much? A few hundred grams of dried malt extract should help you out if you had a lower SG than you would have liked before you pitched the yeast.

If you have then pitched your US-05 yeast, the temperature is somewhere between 16 and 25°C and the gravity isn't dropping... then wait a bit longer.

EDIT: - ah, last Monday. Do you have any other yeast lying around that you can throw in?

Things that yeasties don't like:
- Being added to 35°C+ water, e.g. if you've just added a can to boiled water and top it up with room temp water
- Being told to perform when it's too cold, e.g. 10-15°C
- Sitting on a shelf on hot days
- Being forced to grow too much, i.e. not pitching enough for the gravity, volume or flavour profile you are chasing

I don't think the last thing is an issue but one of hte first three may have been.

Yes i diluted it too much. I pitched the yeast at 26deg. It has been in for 8 days. Ill try some dme

What was the starting gravity? What is it today?

You can add DME halfway through fermenting without a problem.

Well i forgot to test when i started .As i said im a bit rusty. Havent brewed for 2years but ibn the last 4 days it hasnt moved from around 10. It smells great i just dont want light beer

Awesome, sounds good. Well, grab 500g light DME which should be ~1.045 in 4L of water and a sanitised spoon. Take your lid off, pour it in and stir it in... just don't breathe on it. Should do the trick.
 
If he wants to up the abv, shouldn't he be going with something like 500gm dme in say 1 litre of water? Adding 4 litres of 1045 wort will just give him more light beer...

For example, if you take 21 litres of 3.8% beer, and add 4 litres of water and 500gm DME, you get 25 litres of 4% beer. But if you add 500gm DME to 1 litre of water, you get 22 litres of 4.5% beer.

Sean, it's impossible to give an accurate recommendation on how to up your abv without knowing your exact recipe. What exactly did you put into your brew, and how big is your batch size?

I used the esb 3kg american pale ale ,didnt need to add anything just put some extra cascade hops in it. Supposed to be 23l made 27-28l

Understand - I wasn't suggesting to add more water. Sean originally said that he added 4L too much, so I suggested an amount of DME that would roughly counter that... or will be close enough anyway.

I hope that's not in a 30l fermenter! Anyway, from my calcs, you should have around 27l of 3.7% beer at the moment. If you add 1kg of DME, slowly mixed into 1 litre of water to dissolve it, you should end up with 28 litres of 4.9% beer when that's finished fermenting.
